Morningside Begins A New International Mission Partnership
The Global Missions Committee is responsible for developing and leading the missional strategy for our church. The committee bases this strategy on the comments of Jesus Christ, found in Acts 1:8:
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Morningside is involved in sharing Christ through dozens of mission projects and partnership year-round. Many of our fellow church members have tirelessly given of themselves to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community, in the greater Columbus area, in North Georgia and Mobile, Alabama.
The committee has been prayerfully exploring new international partnerships that present a great evangelical need, while at the same time, offering practical ways for our members to engage in hands-on activity. The committee looked around the globe and found that one location became the clear center of focus the church should pursue.
The Nation of Israel is important to God and the global community as a whole. The people God chose as His own need Jesus now as much as ever. There are approximately 140,000 Christians in Israel, about 2% of the population. There's much work to be done.
In the weeks and months to come, we'll be charting our course, in conjunction with the Baptist Association of Churches in Israel, to determine how we can assist them with their evangelical strategy and calling to fulfill the Great Commission in the Holy Land.
Pray for members of the Global Missions Committee as they continue to lead our church to be obedient to Christ's commands.
Global Committee Members: Bob Jordan (Chairman), Elaine Jollay, Kenn German, Mark Graydon, Rebecca Baxter, Jeff Engel, Priscilla Mathews, Jim Buntin, Donald King.
