student Ministry
The student ministry enjoyed a wonderful 1st quarter with steady attendance and participation. The major event for this quarter was Serve Day. The students enjoyed working with David Lix from the Columbus Baptist Association to get the Mile’s Center ready to minister to families in our area. This event was not only well attended but also brought the group closer together by helping their community. The student ministry plans to continue partnering with the Columbus Baptist Association as the year continues. We are now looking forward to our Summer Retreat in July.

NextGen Ministry
The NextGen ministry had a busy 1 st quarter working with the Baptist Collegiate Ministries, our partners in education, and the Morningside Young Family Ministry. We made several visits to the BCM campus to drop off food and talk to the college students. Barbara Port and I have been in frequent communication with our partners in education to meet the needs of both Blanchard Elementary and Blackmon Road Middle School. The NextGen families continue to share a meal together on the last Thursday of every month at the Walsh house. The NextGen team is looking forward to fun summer events.

Young Families
The Young Families group concluded a Lifeway study called “Revive Us” in Bible Fellowship in February and started a new study called “Overcomer” by Dr. David Jeremiah. The study focuses on taking up the whole armor of God (Eph 6) in our everyday lives and should continue through June. The group has also started a Supper Club where they gather together for dinner in someone’s home the last Tuesday of each month.

Children’s Ministry
The year started out with a fun Movie Night and we slowly got back into Wednesday Night Breakout. Some of our older kids participated with the Student Ministry for Serve Day which was a great success! The kids are amping up for Easter with both the Egg Hunt on 4/19 @ 2pm and Easter Sunday. VBS is set for June 9-13 th and both student and volunteer registration goes live beginning on 4/20. To serve in Children’s Ministry, please email Barbara Port, bport@morningsidebaptist.com.

men's Ministry
On March 25, MBC men dined at Ezell's and heard from Shay Ingle about the work of Ga Disaster Relief in Kentucky after flooding recently. Kentucky has been hit hard several times this year. GA Baptists are ready to go when called but volunteers are always needed. On Saturday May 17th, eight men from MBC will work at Mobility Carts Worldwide in Phenix City for a half day. Contact Jeff Ezell (706-577-4958) if you'd like to fill the last remaining spot for this event. Looking forward, would you be willing to assist several others in leading our men this year? If so, contact Jeff, Rick Stallings or Alex Ball. When we serve or meet together, God always shows up and blesses.

Women's Ministry
During the First Quarter, the Women’s Ministry has continued to grow, find new ways to connect, and keep the old we enjoy.
Our W.N.O. have continued to be a great way to connect and communicate ideas. Last quarter, we enjoyed Country’s North, Speakeasy, and Sapo’s. This spring, we decided to try Jason’s, Ezell’s, and then a surprise. We must assure the restaurant is big enough for us, and we do have a Plan B.
At our April W.N.O., Janet Knight will introduce our service project in connection with Mission Columbus.
We are trying Craft and Game Nites on Sundays in the Family Center. On Craft Nite, you bring a craft on which you are working and join the fun. At our first Craft Nite, Lori Worley brought in sourdough starter and had all kinds of ideas about how to bake up happiness. Game Nite lets us try new games and keep our minds active. The next Craft Nite is May 4th , and Game Nite is May 18th . Don’t forget, the Youth have snacks and drinks at wonderfully low prices. These nights are starting back in the fall.
In Bible Study, we have been digging through Revelation. It has been a tough study. Our next Tuesday morning study is Haggai by Jennifer Rothschild and will start on May 6th. Ask Alice Hiltibrand if you have any questions.
Our Pop-Up Event during the first quarter was Empty Bowl. What a good cause and for the children they serve. Our next event is the Columbus Botanical Gardens on May 10th at 10:00. The cost is $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for children 2-17. Afterwards, we hope you can join us at Newt’s. Contact Beatrice Miller if you have any questions.
Thank you to all who come in support of the Women’s Ministry and give us suggestions. We love suggestions.

Committee Reports
Bereavement
I am thrilled to inform you that the Bereavement Committee hasn’t received any requests for meals during the first quarter of 2025. What a blessing!
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
~2 Corinthians 1:3-4
