Senior Adult Ministry
Pastor Wayne Gallups, Senior Adult Pastor, is pleased to announce the formation of a Senior Adult Leadership Team. The members currently are Mary Stewart, Alice Hiltibrand, Rhonda and Larry Kees, and Sandra and Kenneth O’Shields. The leadership team will plan monthly activities, look for ways to minister to our homebound members, keep our senior adults informed and encourage them to engage in the ministries of Morningside. Please be in prayer for God to guide this group as they seek to grow this ministry.

Morningside library
The Morningside Baptist Church library was started by Mozell Lesley Edwards on June 8, 1960. By 1969 there were 1800 books on five bookcases that lined one wall in the library space. In 1969, Mrs. Edwards taught a course on starting a church library. Of the several ladies who took the course, only three stayed to work in the library – Frances Raines, Sybil Palmer and Joyce Weekley.
The library has grown over the years from those 1800 books on five bookcases to over 30,000 books and over 2000 puzzles in several rooms. Through the years, many volunteers have worked in the library to help readers find something interesting to read whether fiction, non-fiction, young adult and children’s books, and religious books.
The ladies currently serving in the library ministry are Margaret Duncan, Jackie Latham, Mary Ann James, Shirley Messenger, Beverly Porter, Joyce Weekley and Monica Cavender. Our library is open Sunday from 9 am to 10 am and Wednesday from 9 am to noon. Stop by today and check out a book or puzzle for your summer entertainment.
