On Sunday, July 24th during our ice cream social, Pastor Jonathan shared his vision for Morningside the church to reach Morningside the neighborhood. Morningside was started as a neighborhood church 70 years ago and we desire to re-establish that neighborhood connection through the Inside Morningside Community Calendar. This will be events and activities designed to invite our neighbors so we can get to know them, learn how we can minister to them and form relationships.

Our first event will be a Morningside Market on Saturday, October 22nd from 11 am to 2 pm in the parking lot on Weems Road. We will have food trucks, farmers selling fall produce, activities for the kids and a fun time. As we reach out into our community through Inside Morningside Community and our partnership with Truth Spring 6th Avenue project, we have made available MBC t-shirts for you to wear. The shirts are available in short and long sleeves and can be purchased here. The order link will close on August 16th.

As Morningside continues our Partner in Education relationship with BRMS, we will start the school year with a prayer walk around their campus on Saturday, August 6th at 9:30. You are invited to join us and staff from BRMS as we pray for the teachers, staff and students for the upcoming school year. We are also collecting notebook paper (college or wide rule), #2 pencils and 3” binders for the students. You may bring your items to the church through August 18th. Morningside Baptist Church began on August 24, 1952, as a church plant with support from Calvary Baptist Church and the Columbus Baptist Association with Rev. James R. “Jimmy” Cook as the pastor. The first church service had 85 people in attendance. The campus has grown from a small brick building on the corner of Weems Road and Frazier Drive to the many buildings we enjoy today. We will mark this milestone on Sunday, August 21st.

Join us at 6 pm as Kingdom Forward Coaching seeks to empower everyday believers to share Christ in ways anyone can do. This ministry offers in-person and online coaching and seminars designed to equip believers to speak about God in our everyday lives . It’s easy enough to start, harder to maintain. Susan Mendelson will bring new and updated ways for us to share Christ with those we encounter on a daily basis. Please mark this date on your calendar and plan to be with us and learn from Susan.

The Georgia GOAL program is a way for you to redirect a portion of your state tax dollars to support Truth Spring Academy and provide much needed financial support to their students’ tuition. Through a simple application process, you can redirect a portion of your state tax dollars to support the school. This is money you are already paying but you get to redirect where it goes. You receive a tax credit for the taxes you pre-pay in March to Georgia GOAL and you claim the tax credit when you file your state taxes.
